The mobileX products offer an SAP-certified interface for SAP CS/PM and SAP S/4HANA Service. This software component is available as so-called “mobileX-Add-on for SAP”. The mobileX products – the mobile solution mobileX–CrossMIP, the deployment planning software mobileX–Dispatch and the mobileX–ServicePlatform – can be seamlessly integrated into SAP via the interface.
The mobileX-Add-on for SAP - An interface for (almost) all cases
The mobileX-Add-on for SAP supports all important use cases in the field of field service management and maintenance. It enables the tracking of changes to orders, notifications and purchase orders and can be easily extended using business add-ins and interfaces. The realization of the interface in a reserved namespace ensures a clean separation from customer developments. The behavior of various interfaces can be partially influenced directly in SAP via customizing. The possibilities for this will be further expanded in future releases. The transition from SAP CS/PM to S/4HANA Service can be easily configured by customizing our add-on.
Change tracking for push transmission
The mobileX-Add-on for SAP offers change tracking to actively transmit changes to various objects to the mobileX-MIP-server and via push to mobileX-Dispatch and the mobile clients. By default, orders, notifications and purchase orders can be tracked using this function. Integration is being planned for other objects.
Read and edit basic data
The interface enables extensive basic data to be read and written. This ranges from long texts, classifications and characteristics to documents. It also allows access to contacts (partners), addresses, codes including reporting schemes with configurable behavior and to the factory calendar for mobileX-Dispatch.
Resources and qualifications
The mobileX-Add-on for SAP can be used to read resources from the personnel master data via teams and technicians as well as vehicles and production resources. The respective qualifications and contact details can also be retrieved. In addition, the available times are determined for display and use in mobileX-Dispatch and mobileX-MIP. This enables more efficient resource planning and improved customer service. The interface in the SAP HR system is highly configurable and can be easily expanded using interfaces.
Integration of customer service and maintenance
By integrating the mobileX-Add-On for SAP with SAP CS/PM and SAP S/4HANA Service, numerous use cases for service and maintenance can be covered. This includes reading orders including operations and numerous other order-related data (object list, components, partners, etc.), creating material and time confirmations and long texts. The reading and writing of messages (including items, measures, causes and actions) is also fully integrated via the interface.
This data is used in mobileX-Dispatch to plan the service technicians’ assignments optimally. The result of the planning is then also fed back into SAP as a planned assignment via the interface.
Technical object structures (technical space and equipment), including measured value acquisition lists, measuring points and values, can be read out in configurable hierarchy levels. In addition, interfaces are provided for maintaining the object structure and for installing and removing equipment.
Connection of materials management
Materials management (MM) can also be integrated via the SAP interface. Be it for reading the material master or warehouse stock or for retrieving or processing orders as BANF or stock transfer orders. Material consumption from the warehouse or from reservations as well as in the context of the installation or removal of equipment is also integrated. This enables much more efficient material management, as technicians can maintain their vehicle stock and place orders while on the move.
Integration of customer-specific time management
Companies can transfer times that cannot be booked for service assignments, such as vacation, training, illness or stocktaking, to customer-specific time management via CATS or via Z-tables/BaDI implementations.
Additional functions when using SAP S/4HANA Service
If the certified mobileX add-on for SAP is used in SAP S/4HANA Service, it offers the following core processes in the service in addition to the basic functions:
- Reading service orders and items
- Disposition of service orders via mobileX-Dispatch
- Integration of the items in mobileX-CrossMIP in the form of confirmation proposals
- Posting the confirmation to the “Service Confirmation” in S/4HANA
The continuous expansion of further functions relating to the new service process in S/4HANA is planned for future versions of the mobileX-Add-On for SAP S/4HANA.
Integration variants
In principle, three variants are available for the integration of mobileX-CrossMIP and mobileX-Dispatch with SAP S/4HANA “on premise”, depending on the company’s migration strategy to S/4HANA:
1. brownfield approach: the continuation of the previous CS/PM process on the S/4HANA system including own customizations for this process
2. greenfield approach: conversion to the new S/4HANA service process
3. hybrid approach: a mixture of both variants for different branches or subsidiaries, for example
Which of the variants is most suitable depends on how companies want to organize the transition to the S/4HANA world for the service or maintenance process in general and for their dispatchers and technicians. All three approaches can be implemented with the mobileX-Add-On for SAP.
Flexible and future-proof support for the migration strategy to S/4HANA
The mobileX-Add-on for SAP offers flexible and future-proof support for the migration strategy of field service management and maintenance processes to S/4HANA Service “on premise”.
Thanks to the flexible add-on architecture, companies can also easily integrate individual adaptations in S/4HANA Service and optimize them for their field service or maintenance process. It is also possible to transfer existing adaptations from the ERP.
By consolidating the data in mobileX-MIP for mobileX-Dispatch and mobileX-CrossMIP, companies can minimize the changes for their dispatchers and technicians. This applies to both the processes and the operation of the application. This saves implementation costs and training requirements.
Thanks to the flexible use for different migration scenarios, companies can also convert their organization to the new processes in S/4HANA Service at their leisure. The mixed operation enables them to roll out the new processes in pilot regions, test them and gain experience, thus ensuring a smooth transition.
